The Flowing Tide

Lower Abbey Street

The Flowing Tide

For years The Flowing Tide has been the haunt of players and patrons of the Abbey Theatre across the road. As such the crowd is a happily bohemian mix of everything from students to bankers.

Small and intimate, the 'Tide was refurbished in the 90s but, despite the murals of Irish playwrights, without losing any of its essential atmosphere or lapsing into excess Victoriana. Instead The Flowing Tide has remained a timeless place, a front parlour of a pub defined as much by its clientele as by its product.

Recently they've equipped a small outdoor area to cater for smokers, but it's inside you'll want top be for the conversation and atmosphere.

The Flowing Tide is a one-of-its-kind pub, a piece of Dublin as quintessential as the Liffey on which the eponymous tide flows. Well worth a drop in before or after the performance.
